Basketball Roundup: NK, CK boys win on opening night

BELFAIR — Elijah McGee and Austin McMinds scored 14 points each as Central Kitsap won its Monday night opener against North Mason, 64-54.

The Cougars trailed at halftime but pulled away in the second half and rung up 24 points in the final quarter.

Central Kitsap has an away game at Kingston on Wednesday, then heads east Friday to Olympic for a boys and girls varsity doubleheader in the Battle of Bucklin Hill.

North Kitsap 66, Clover Park 52

A new-look Vikings team started their season on the right foot with a 66-52 non-league victory Monday over Clover Park. Junior wing Shaa Humphrey scored a game-high 27 points and fellow junior Kobe McMillian had 22.

North Kitsap plays a non-league game with Jackson on Wednesday. Its home and league opener takes place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5 against Bremerton.

Bainbridge’s Wikstrom has night to remember against Olympic

BAINBRIDGE — On Monday night, the Trojans were on the wrong end of a historic performance by Bainbridge’s Olivia Wikstrom.

The junior guard managed to outscore her opponents by her lonesome, dropping a school record 44 points in a 75-42 win over Olympic at Bainbridge High School.

Junior post Morgan Kroesser led the Trojans with 10 points.

Olympic has two more non-league games this week: Wednesday at home against Centralia, then Friday at home against Central Kitsap.

Speaking of the Cougars, they lost their first game of the season, 63-58, on Monday against North Mason.
